アルバム「プリーズ・プリーズ・ミー」の２曲目
レノンとマッカートニーがツアー中に作曲したもの。ポールは、「プロらしからぬ仕事」とコメントしている。彼らは、1963年ツアーでサポートしていた歌手、ヘレン・シャピロへこの曲をセールスしようと思ったが、彼女のマネージメントが「歌詞が暗すぎる」との理由で却下する。その代わりに、同じツアーに参加していた歌手のケニー・リンチににわたりレコーディングされた。このことから、レノン・マッカートニーのクレジットでの最初の他のアーチストへ提供された楽曲となった。

Written on tour by Lennon and McCartney in what McCartney described as “a hacking job”, they hoped to sell it to Helen Shapiro, for whose tour the Beatles were the supporting act in 1963, but her management declined due to the downbeat lyrics. Instead, singer Kenny Lynch, who was also on the same tour, ended up hearing the song and recording it himself, resulting in the first Lennon-McCartney song to be recorded by someone else.
